Role of Knowledge-Based Economy on Poverty Alleviation and Unemployment Reduction in Nigeria.
Abstract
The rise of the knowledge-based economy is closely linked to globalization and recent advancements in technology. This paper explores how adopting a knowledge-based economy can help reduce poverty and unemployment in Nigeria. The concept emphasizes that information and knowledge are central to a nation's economic growth and development. Technological advancements and innovation drive the knowledge-based economy by influencing production methods, consumption patterns, and the structure of economies. A knowledge-based economy significantly utilizes human capital to generate new knowledge, technologies, and innovations, leading to job creation and a reduction in poverty and unemployment. Tertiary institutions play a crucial role in this process by enhancing the capacity of researchers and entrepreneurs. They achieve this by fostering the creation of new knowledge, products, and services through the strategic use of ICTs and cross-border knowledge flows. However, adopting a knowledge-based economy in Nigeria faces several challenges. Tertiary institutions, which act as catalysts for its implementation, are hindered by issues such as low investment in human capital, limited ICT integration, and inadequate access to educational opportunities. To address these challenges, the paper recommends prioritizing the development of human capital through well-structured capacity-building and staff development programs. These initiatives will enhance intellectual capacity and improve the quality of education, thereby fostering a thriving knowledge-based economy.

Abstract
The study aims to assess the Effectiveness of Localized Radio-Based Instruction as An Aid to Modular Distance Learning based on the academic performance of Grade 9 students of Tambulig National High School, Zamboanga del Sur Division. The study was conducted during the Academic Year 2021-2022 amidst the pandemic. First Quarter grades of the Grade 9 students were gathered online. The study was quantitative, using a descriptive research design. Sampling methods targeted two groups: students who used RBI and non-RBI students. In determining the 84 students who used RBI, purposive sampling was used. Systematic random sampling was also used in getting the 84 samples from the 239 non-RBI students. The majority of the RBI students (91.67%) have a very satisfactory to outstanding performance compared to the 75.19% of the non-RBI. Based on the result of a weighted average of both Non-RBI and RBI groups (85 and 87) implies that the students who availed of the Radio-Based Instruction have better performance in Araling Panlipunan compared to those who relied only on the learning modules. Based. On the mean, LRBI students have higher performance than the non-RBI. In the new normal education, the students were able to learn and perform better in school when they availed of the Localized Radio-Based Instruction.
