This study investigates the pollution load of selected heavy metals in surface water surrounding tank farms in Oghareki community and its implications for human health. The results show that the surface water is contaminated with heavy metals, including lead, cadmium, nickel, iron, copper, and zinc, with varying concentrations across different distances from the tank farms. The pollution load index (PLI) and enrichment factor (EF) indicate significant contamination, particularly with cadmium. The chronic daily intake (CDI), hazard quotient (HQ), and incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) values suggest potential health risks, including cancer and non-cancer risks, for individuals consuming contaminated water. The study highlights the need for regular monitoring and mitigation measures to minimize the impact of heavy metal pollution on human health and the environment.
