Impact of the American Attack on Cuba at the Bay of Pigs on The United States and International Relations
Abstract
In the relations among nation-states in the international system are times of cordiality and enmity. These are not in themselves attempts to curry the favour of others in the system or to have enemies; everything is about national interest. As nation-states pursue national interest and power; they are bound to clash with others in the international system. Consequently, this study examined the American attack on Cuba at the Bay of Pigs. It focused on what happened and its aftermaths. The study employed secondary sources of data collection. The findings of the study revealed that the attack of Cuba by the United States (US) at the Bay of Pigs was a national disaster to the US. It dented the international image of the US but made the regime of Fidel Castro popular as Castro stood against the US to defend Cuba’s national interest. It was therefore, recommended that political leaders, all over the world, should make national interest the priority. This should be the highest priority as they relate with other nation-states in the international system.

Reintegration Difficulties of Ex-Convicts: Reasons for Recidivism of Ex-Convicts in Cameroon
Abstract
To obtain information on the reintegration difficulties faced by ex-convicts in Cameroon, data was obtained from 96 ex-convicts randomly selected from seven cities in Cameroon. The analysis of data revealed that majority of ex-convicts in Cameroon become recidivist after leaving prison because they are unable to reintegrate in their society. In Cameroon, ex-convicts are generally rejected by the society that continues to label them as criminals. They are rejected in family circles by wives, children and their siblings. It is very difficult for employers to grant them employment opportunities. In case they are employed, they are paid meagre salaries and easily dismissed if suspected of any offence sometimes even without any investigation. The rejection of ex-convicts by the society in Cameroon pushes the ex-convicts to vices such as drug and alcohol consumption and to crimes. This causes their re-imprisonment shortly after leaving prisons of Cameroon.

The poor reading culture in Nigeria, specifically among primary and secondary school students, has reached an alarming state. The situation needs to be urgently addressed before it gets out of hand. It is against this backdrop that this article explores the possible causes of poor reading culture among primary and secondary school students in Nigeria and the way forward. It has been discovered that the causes of poor reading culture in Nigeria include defective education system, reading language problem, lack of well-equipped or functional libraries in schools and low patronage of school libraries, among others. The article has implications for the government, the parents, the policymakers in the education sector, the educational institutions and the students on the possible ways to entrench a strong reading culture in Nigeria. This article puts forward practicable suggestions that could help entrench a strong reading culture in Nigeria. Towards a Theology of Sustainable Mediative Dialogue through Social Media
Abstract
God, the great Communicator created the universe through communication. He wants human beings, as His image-bearers, to communicate with Him, and especially fellow human beings through various invented communication means. Social media have been one of such inventions that human beings have been using to communicate with one another. Inasmuch as conflicts are inevitable among human beings, to resolve these conflicts and have a sustainable peaceful co-existence, God wants human beings to resemble Jesus Christ (who is the Mediator between God and man) to dialogue mediatively among conflicting partings using social media as a means. To this end, this paper discussed theological basis for conflict resolution and peacebuilding in general and theological basis for sustainable mediative dialogue in particular, gave some biblical injunctions on how to prevent conflicts and have a peaceful co-existence, and concluded with the theological basis for social media.

The State of Folk Games and their Educational Implications on Children’s Academic Achievement
Abstract
The study used a Qualitative Research design to examine the current state of Ghanaian folk Games in schools. The study used a convenient sampling technique with an interview as a data collection instrument to collect data from One hundred and twenty-nine (129) pupils from various classes in both Lower and Upper Primary at Amakom S.D.A. Preparatory School in Kumasi. The main aim of the study was to find out whether folk games are still popular and played among Ghanaian children and their implications on educational achievements. The study revealed that most Ghanaian folk games are waning as most children are attracted to non-traditional activities such as Computer related games which may have negative implications on their learning if not properly monitored. It is therefore recommended that most of these declining folk games be given a boost at home, during events in the community, schools, and churches. This will help to recuperate the folk games for children’s physical, emotional, and social development.
