“At-Risk” Students Self-Efficacy Level and Attitudes Towards Mathematic in the Upper East Region of Ghana
Abstract
Several studies exist in literature on the attitude of students towards mathematics and the self-efficacy level of students in mathematics in general. However, little is seen on the attitudes of “At-Risk” students towards mathematics and their self-efficacy level in mathematics, hence this study was conducted to fill the gap in literature by examining the attitudes and self-efficacy level of the “At-Risk” students towards/in mathematics in the Upper East Region of Ghana. This investigation is a quantitative one which made use of a cross-sectional survey design to collect data from 104 “At-Risk” students who were selected using multiple sampling techniques. Adopted attitudes towards mathematics inventory by Tapia (1996) and adapted self-efficacy questionnaire by May (2009) were the instruments of data collection. The data collected were analyzed descriptively (means and standard deviations) which were compared with standard levels of interpretations in literature and judgment made. From the analysis of the data, it was found that “At-Risk” students have low mathematics self-efficacy level and moderate attitudes towards mathematics. It was therefore recommended that mathematics teachers should employ innovative and child-centered teaching approaches which have the potential of actively engaging learners during instruction in the subject to help enhance learners’ attitudes and self-efficacy level in mathematics.

Social Justice in Nigeria: A Dialectical Discourse
Abstract
This paper examined the nexus between social justice, national development, and nation-building in Nigeria. It adopted the qualitative and historical descriptive method of analysis because, by its nature, the topic was not amenable to quantitative analysis. One of the important findings of the paper is that though Nigerian citizens have remained together within the same political space in spite of many challenges, there are obvious cases of inequality and glaring examples of the negation of the principles of social justice by the leadership class. The result of the breaches of the constitutional provision for social justice is Nigeria’s inability to consolidate its diversity to achieve national development and nation-building, as is the case in other heterogenous federations like the United States. The paper concluded that a possible way out of this quagmire is for the federal government to adopt concrete official measures to encourage attitudinal and behavioural changes among both the leaders and ordinary Nigerians in order to ensure faithful adherence to social justice, which is considered a panacea for the challenges of national development and nation-building.

Hypothesizing Cognitive Test Anxiety and Academic Performance by Gender and Grade Levels of Colleges of Education Students in Ghana
Abstract
Psychologicalfactors such astest and examination anxiety and stress are important indicators of students’ learning outcomes and academic performance. This surveylooked at cognitive test anxiety and examination scores of college of education students by gender and grade level differences. A total of 236 teacher trainees were selected via stratified and random sampling techniques for the survey. The cognitive test anxiety scale [CTAS] (α=0.91) by Cassady and Johnson (2002) was used to conduct the survey.Frequency count, percentage and independent samples t-test were computedwith the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 22. The study revealed high levels of examination anxiety among female students (p=0.004), but the cognitive test anxiety between level 100 and level 200 studentswas statistically insignificant (p ≥ .05). It is recommended that teachers, parents and educational administrators should support and boost the self-esteem of college of education students through cognitive, affective, motivational and behavioural strategies.

Cultural Diversity and Youth Leadership Development in Nigeria
Abstract
One of the important characteristics of culture is diversity. This makes every nation of the world a unique entity. Rather than a blessing, cultural diversity has become a tool of oppression, domination, nepotism, injustice, disparity and discrimination in the hands of political actors and influential citizens in Nigeria. In the fight against police brutality that gave birth to a dramatic event tagged “End Sars Protest” on 20th December 2020, Nigerian youths demonstrated unity in diversity. On the contrary, the same youths are major instruments of various secessionist movements and agitating groups such as Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Movement for The Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSON), The Emancipation of Niger Delta (MEND), and Yoruba Nation. What a paradoxical situation! Against this background, this study focused on youth’s awareness of Nigeria's cultural diversity and its implication for leadership development. The study explored social leadership development theory as a theoretical framework while adopting descriptive survey research design and structured questionnaires to gather information. The population for the study is comprised of the members of the Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security and Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) alongside the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN). As a result, the study adopted a purposive stratified random sampling method to select a specified number of respondents from each youth organisation within the coalition and National Youth Council of Nigeria. Then, the data collected were analysed by Microsoft Data Analysis Tool Pack and Integrated with Microsoft Excel for easy display and graphical illustration. From the findings, the study recommends that youth organisations in Nigeria should adopt a cultural approach to leadership development in their training schemes. Also, the government of the Nigerian public and private sectors should make a policy of cultural inclusion and create a sensitisation platform to educate people on the uniqueness of Nigeria's cultural diversity.

Influence of TikTok as an Edutainment Platform on Female Students’ Awareness and Use of Contraceptives
Abstract
This research study investigates the influence of TikTok, a popular social media platform known for its entertainment and educational content, on the awareness and utilization of contraceptives among female students at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU). With the widespread use of social media among the youth, platforms like TikTok have emerged as potential sources of information, creating new opportunities for disseminating knowledge on sensitive topics, such as sexual health and contraception. The main objectives of the study was to evaluate how exposure to contraceptive-related contents on TikTok influence female undergraduates’ awareness and responsible use of contraceptives among COOU female students. The study adopted the uses and gratifications theory in carrying out the study. The survey research method was adopted with a sample size of 400 drawn using Taro Yaame’s formula from a population of 12,552. A structured survey questionnaire is employed to collect data from a representative sample of COOU female students, assessing their knowledge and understanding of contraceptives before and after exposure to contraceptive-related content on TikTok. Preliminary findings indicate that TikTok plays a significant role in increasing the awareness of contraceptive methods among COOU female students. The platform's engaging and informative content fosters an informal learning environment that facilitates discussions around sensitive topics, breaking down barriers and reducing stigmas associated with contraception. Moreover, TikTok's interactive nature allows for peer-to-peer communication, enabling students to share experiences and advice, leading to enhanced knowledge exchange and increased confidence in contraceptive decision-making. The research recommended that TikTok creators should ensure that the information shared on contraceptives is accurate and reliable and partner with experts to add credibility to the content.

An Assessment of the Effectiveness of Mass Media Campaigns in Promoting Environmental Sustainability in Nigeria
Abstract
Environmental sustainability is a critical global concern, and Nigeria, as a populous and ecologically diverse nation, faces numerous environmental challenges such as deforestation, pollution and inadequate waste management. In recent years, mass media campaigns have emerged as powerful tools to raise awareness and promote sustainable practices among Nigerians. It is in the light of this that this study assessed the effectiveness of mass media campaigns in promoting environmental sustainability in Nigeria. The researchers embarked on this study with the intent of achieving four objectives, and based on the objectives of this study, four research questions were formulated to serve as a guide for this study. The researchers anchored this study on the Two –Step Flow Theory. Survey was adopted as the most suitable research design for this study, and data were collected through the use of questionnaire. Findings from this study show that mass media campaigns have had a significant impact on increasing public awareness of environmental issues in Nigeria. These campaigns have successfully communicated the urgency of protecting the environment and the consequences of unsustainable practices. Moreover, they have motivated citizens to take action, with many respondents reporting changes in their behaviour such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and supporting environmental initiatives. This study concludes by emphasizing the importance of continued investment in mass media campaigns for environmental sustainability in Nigeria. This study recommends tailoring campaigns to local context, leveraging new media platforms, and enhancing collaboration between government, civil society and the private sector to create a holistic and impactful approach to environmental education and advocacy.
