The Challenges of Managing Electoral Violence in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State of Nigeria: An Analysis of INEC’s Preparedness and Response.
Abstract
Electoral violence remains a poignant issue in many societies, with Okene Local Government Area being no exception. This study examines the complexities of managing electoral violence within this region. It specifically investigates the underlying causes of electoral violence, the efforts and challenges faced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in addressing this menace, and the broader implications for national security.
The Marxian Political Economy approach provided the theoretical foundation for this research. A qualitative, descriptive research design was employed to gain in-depth insights into the subject matter. Data were gathered from both primary and secondary sources. Through purposive sampling, interviews were conducted with ten key informants and four IDI respondents. These interviews were guided by a structured qualitative interview, and the collected data were analysed using content analysis.
The findings revealed that electoral violence in Okene is primarily driven by factors such as corruption, greed, exclusion from the political system, and economic deprivation, including unemployment and poverty. Additionally, the efforts of INEC in managing electoral violence are often hampered by limited resources, political interference, and challenges in coordination with security agencies. The study also highlighted significant security implications, including loss of lives and property, displacement, and erosion of public trust in governmental institutions.
The study therefore recommends comprehensive strategies to address the root causes of electoral violence and enhance the capacity of electoral institutions like INEC. Recommendations include improved resource allocation, strengthened legal frameworks, and enhanced coordination between INEC and security agencies to mitigate the risks of electoral violence and safeguard national security.

Effect of External Debt on Inflation Rate in Nigeria.
Abstract
The study examines the effect of external debt on inflation rate in Nigeria between 2008 to 2023. Ex post-facto research design was used and quarterly time series data were extracted from the Central Bank of Nigeria's statistical bulletin and Debt Management Office reports 2023. The dependent variable was inflation rate, while the independent proxies were multilateral debt and bilateral debt. The Johansen cointegration test estimation was used based on the unit root test result with shows that external debt had no co-integration with inflation rate in Nigeria. Based on regression analysis, it was found that the bilateral debt had a negative significant effect on inflation rate in Nigeria while multilateral debt had a positive significant effect on inflation rate in Nigeria. Therefore, this study recommended that government should go for more of bilateral loans tied to capital projects like the railway project with the China Export-Import Bank. This will encourage price stability and push for the inflow of expatriates that might end up investing in the Nigerian economy and reducing inflation. Government should be cautious in accumulating multilateral debt since most of these multilateral organizations give stringent conditions on loans which might hamper the price stability of the country. Effective debt management, and prudent fiscal policies, will enhance economic resilience are crucial for mitigating these inflationary impacts.

Judicial Oversight of Labour Arbitration Awards.
Abstract
This paper investigates the scope and limitations of judicial oversight in labor arbitration awards, focusing on the balance between arbitration autonomy and the need for judicial intervention. The research addresses the central question: To what extent should courts intervene in arbitration awards in the labor sector? Through a doctrinal analysis of statutes, case law, and scholarly perspectives, the paper evaluates how judicial oversight impacts labor arbitration, particularly in Nigeria, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Findings indicate that while judicial intervention is essential to ensure fairness and compliance with public policy, excessive involvement can undermine the efficiency and finality of the arbitration process. The study concludes that an optimal balance between judicial oversight and the autonomy of arbitration is critical to maintaining a functional and just labor arbitration system.

Addressing Gender Stereotyping in the Emergent World of Block-Chain and Cryptocurrency Administration.
Abstract
The study seeks to address the gender gap in crypto world by exploring strategies for promoting financial literacy, creating opportunities for women in the industry and addressing the “bro culture”. Several empirical evidence has been done by researchers which indicates that men are more interested in crypto currencies than women. This work will show how crypto currency-based approaches to development interact with gender, which are part of neoliberal beliefs about entrepreneurialism, financial inclusion, and gender roles. Block-chain technology has the potential to address gender inequality. The research methodology borders around the use of descriptive method of analysis and content analysis. The work attempts to look into the rise of decentralized finance, specifically block chain-based applications and calls for a more Feminine-friendly analysis. Findings by Gemini’s State of US Crypto report showed that women make up only 26% of the investors in the space. Forex analyzed the top 50 crypto company founders to find only 6% of these have female CEOs. The World Bank explores how block chain can be leveraged to advance gender equality, particularly in the context of humanitarian response and financial services. As such, the gender gap in the cryptocurrency world is a complex issue that requires a multifaceted approach to address. The study recommended that blockchain technology holds promise for promoting gender equality.

Boroism as a Fundamental Philosophy in the Niger Delta Struggle.
Abstract
Boroism has come to be associated with the fight for political recognition and resource control for the Ijo ethnic group in Nigeria's Niger Delta. A deep respect for the person of the late Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, especially in the face of injustice, poverty, exploitation, and persecution, gave rise to this belief system. Today, activists and militant groups fighting for resource control, political recognition, and equitable treatment from the federal government and other major tribes like the Igbo, Yoruba, and Hausa/Fulani have made Boroism a core tenet of their beliefs. Therefore, the purpose of this essay is to demonstrate how the principles and beliefs of the man known as Boro developed into a potent ideology that is currently serving as a symbol for hundreds of groups and individuals in the Niger Delta region in the struggle against political inequity, exploitation, and oppression. The study reveals that though there has been a shift from the fundamental principles of Boroism as some individuals and groups have started to use the Niger Delta struggle as a vehicle to further their own personal agenda and self-serving goals, by spiritedly pursuing the fight against the government, international oil companies, and private individuals that oppress and exploit the Niger Delta, those who sincerely adhere to the ideas of Boroism have managed to preserve the legacies of Boro. This study utilizes secondary sources of data for its analysis and would be descriptive and analytical in nature.
