Principles that Regards Open Access to Research Publications

It is believed that:

  • A very important aspect of the research process is the release and circulation of the research result. This must be taken into consideration when apportioning resources for the research.

  • When there is Open Access to research journals especially publicly financed ones, there is going to be an immense benefit to the research community. This may have huge socio-economic benefits for potentials users of the research findings.

  • According to Wikipedia, Open Access is not just about having access to the published works but to also re-use data with just little checks that are subject to adequate contrition.

  • The research publications system should be moved to Open Access to give the public free access to published researches and prevent unnecessary impediments in publication.

Here at African – British Journals, we are committed to:

The four Principles of Open Access Publisher Services

The following are the limits of the services expected from publishers of Open Access Journals when payments are made or it is being subsidized:

  1. Copyright and Reuse

Complete copyright of the work lies with the author of the work. Open license should be used to publish all publications such as the Common Attribution CC By.

  2. Archiving

Published works should have copies to be stored in databases (repositories) that are registered. Publishers should also give authors all the possible ways to have access to their published works. A constant address where the authors can get full access to their works and also read or download it should be provided to authors for the archiving to be viable. Authors should also be able to provide any variations of their works to the registered website or databases.

  3. Indexing

This can get your work more audience. Published works should be indexed in databases that are up to standard.

  4. Readable with Machine

All the data provided in the researches published in an Open Access Journal should be readable by computer by open standards.
